Mamata Alleges Central Forces Tried to Check Her Car en Route to Airport

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that central forces attempted to search her car while she was on her way to Kolkata airport, a day after her party alleged “intrusive checks” targeting its leaders.

,Speaking at a poll rally in Uttar Dinajpur district, Banerjee said security personnel tried to stop and inspect her vehicle earlier in the day. She challenged the forces, saying they could check her car every day if they had the “guts.

”,The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday accused the Election Commission of directing security personnel to carry out selective checks on its leaders’ vehicles.

The party alleged that its national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was among those specifically targeted.

,TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said the checks appeared biased, questioning why only TMC leaders were being subjected to such scrutiny while others were not. ,There was no immediate response from the Election Commission on the allegations.

,Polling for the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29. Votes will be counted on May 4.
